The Preview Party that happened last night at the Parade is always a great opportunity to get a first look at the Parade homes. But it’s also the night awards are given to the builders in a variety of categories.

Each builder was recognized in some capacity for the talent and craftsmanship that went into building his home. Kevin Knight took first place for the interior design by David M. Berg, Inc. Weaver homes won in the Best Kitchen category. And Dani Homes took first prize with his opulent master suite that includes a shower big enough for the entire OSU football team (almost).

Be among the first visitors to be inspired by the 2010 Parade of Homes at the premiere event of the 2010 BIA Parade of Homes. Come the night before the Parade “officially” opens to the public. The highlight of the evening will be the annual BIA Parade Awards Ceremony.

Tickets are available for $75 per person with all proceeds benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation and BIA Foundation charities.

The Preview Party will feature an array of delicious food and beverages from the chefs at Cameron Mitchell Catering. Peppered steak, pulled chicken, garden vegetable kabobs, blackened shrimp, crab cakes, and short rib pasta are just a few of the items that will be featured as well as a variety of desserts, beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water.

Be one of the first to get an exclusive view of the Parade homes with this enjoyable evening event.

New Extended Hours on tap for 2010 Parade

We’ve extended some of the hours for the 2010 BIA Parade. The additional hours will allow attendees an opportunity to come out a little earlier on the weekend and also give plenty of time to see the eight great houses.

Please note the new Parade schedule:

Monday-Thursday: 12noon – 9pm

Friday-Saturday: 10am – 9pm

Sunday: 10am – 6pm

**No admittance 1 hour prior to the close of the Parade

On a recent trip to Hong Kong, M/I Homes‘ very own Barry Salzman was flipping through a magazine that featured a spread about the recently opened Peninsula Hotel in Shanghai. What caught Barry’s eye in the article wasn’t the in room amenities such as a high-tech sound system and cappuccino maker, the world renowned restaurant, or the exquisite art pieces throughout the hotel. Rather, he was enchanted by the intricate detail of the woodwork that is reminiscent of the art deco era.

With this as his inspiration, Barry returned to Columbus to work with trim carpenters Armbruster Armcarp on integrating something similar into the Parade house. The result? Pictures speak much louder than words:

This year’s parade builders are giving BUILT-IN some new meaning. From the ‘family management center’ to the key garage and reading/hiding nook to the elaborate closets, wine cellars, kitchen pantries, recessed wall for family photos, traditional book shelves and window seats, this year’s parade has kept the woodworkers hopping. Oh, and not to mention, gives professional organizers some new dreams.
