Mindy Drayer from NBC4 had a chance to chat with Design on a Dime star and BIA Parade of Homes guest Frank Fontana about what made him interested in design and ways in which people can easily and cheaply impact their own homes.
Despite the heat, the Preview Party was a great success attracting over 1000 attendees. Here are some quick shots of those that took a first glance at the eight spectacular homes, saw the award winners get their hardware, and enjoyed a fabulous fare from Cameron Mitchell’s.
A recent trip to the BIA Parade site found the crew at Kevin Knight’s Parade house busy adding brick detailing to the outdoor fireplace and grilling space. The area will flow from the large “gathering room” that’s part of a great open floor plan. A sliding door will disappear into the wall creating a seamless connection between the inside and outside space.
Just imagine yourself enjoying a glass of wine while your dinner cooks on the customized grill…
As we are tearing down the tents, signage and the ticket booth at the Tartan Ridge parade site, we just wanted to say thanks for a great parade to everyone! As you know, the builders outdid themselves, the designers and landscapers made us all say WOW!, the TWIG volunteers helped greet literally thousands of guests, the city of Dublin was a wonderful host, and our developer, Edwards Land Company, provided a really dynamic and inviting setting for this year’s parade.
We hope that everyone had a spectacular time! Thanks for coming and supporting the builders and the BIA. We look forward to seeing you all next year in New Albany at Ackerly Park.
We’re pleased to announce that next year’s Parade (okay, we know we still aren’t finished with this year’s event, but why wait to share good news?) will take place at a beautiful site in the heart of the New Albany community: Ackerly Park.
In 1991 and 1992, the BIA Parade of Homes was one of the first opportunities for people to see the new New Albany community; the event also returned there in 1999. The 2010 Parade site is within walking distance of the majority of the New Albany community’s amenities: Market Square, the school campus, several places of worshiop, and the McCoy Center for the Performing Arts.
If you are a builder interested in participating in next year’s Parade, let Jim Hilz at the BIA office know. The lot selection will likely take place by the end of September/early October.
For a map of the site and the complete press release, visit the Ackerly Park page on this web site. And help us welcome back the New Albany Company as a host developer for the Parade!
We’ve stumbled some fun online posts about the parade. We appreciate all the chatter and reviews! If you are interested, here’s a list of links. If we missed you please let us know!
If you haven’t been yet, we recommend that you watch this one minute snapshot which captures some of our favorite quotes we’ve heard over the last week – and a montage of some of the beautiful homes, rooms, landscapes and features. Enjoy! (and then make plans to come see us – the Parade is open through July 26!)
Here are the trade partners, subs and suppliers to the 2009 BIA Parade of Homes builders. These pages have been pulled from the official Plan Book; just toggle the full screen (upper right corner) to have the names / pages appear a bit larger. We want to officially thank each and every one of them for their amazing partnership in making the 2009 Parade a reality and success. It doesn’t happen without them! (They are categorized by the homebuilder that used them.)
