Cream or sugar?

In an earlier post, we wondered if we needed the house with the extraordinary living options that the builders are providing outside (kitchens, pizza ovens, etc). In this post, we wonder if you will need to leave your master suite. Pictured here, nestled between the three closets, is a full service coffee bar.

Pubs & Wine Cellars

In this year’s parade homes entertaining will be a priority, if the real estate devoted to wine cellars and pubs is any indication (and lots of open spaces not pictured here).   Below are a few of the  spaces we found dedicated to those highly social moments in life.

Lite it up, and up, and up…

Michael Edwards, designer of the Duffy home, explains the French Country style he’s embodied throughout the house.  Here, he shows us the lighting fixtures he chose for the living/great room – a lovely two story centerpiece that would have been “the original” part of a home like this, had it been built in the early 1900s.  The stone wall (see earlier entry) is behind the photographer, giving this room a truly grand feel.

He’ll throw in a case of Windex.

We aren’t trying to influence the judges, but we think that this may be one of the coolest sinks we saw on our tour this week.  Nilay Bhatt, owner of Dani Homes, is shown in the mirror above this beautifully cut glass sink in his first floor powder room.  Wait to you see the rest of his modern surprises.

Calgon, are you there?

We know that the five-year old and under crowd love a good bath.  But we are curious about the other 80% of your household residents.  Does anyone really use these tubs?  The homebuilders seem to think it is up for debate, despite finding one in every master suite.

Here are some from Coppertree, Duffy/Michael Edwards, M/I Homes, Stafford and Compass.  We didn’t get a photo of the only iron tub we saw at Romanelli & Hughes’ home – but they seem to be the only one ambitious enough to lug it upstairs to their master.

Imelda would be very comfortable here.

After a tour this week of each house, we were wondering, who has the largest closets, especially in the master suites?  We think it might be a race between Lakewood, M/I Homes and Romanelli.   This one taken at Lakewood might be in the running for the gold… but it will be close.

Four layered wall work

Faux painter in the Gossing home. This is step one of a four layer process.

On a visit to the site this morning a faux painter was caught in the act at the Gossing home. She was just starting her work so the wall had a rather splochy look. But she interrupted her work long enough to explain her process and to show me a sample of what it will eventually look like.

A sample of the finished product shows that the walls will have an embossed design as well as a rustic old look.
