BIA Scholarship: Making a Difference in Students' Lives

 

Each year, the BIA is proud to award several scholarships to high school seniors or students currently enrolled in college or post-high school training. The Scholarship Program is a function of the BIA Foundation and was created to encourage and promote a highly qualified workforce for the building industry. 

Since 1994, 108 students have received scholarships totaling $139,270.  This year, the Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) has assumed the oversight of reviewing and awarding the annual scholarships.

Scholarship Applications: Due March 31, 2012

 

Application Requirements Include:

  • Completed application
  • 400-word essay
  • Two reference letters
  • Official grade transcript
  • Financial Need

2012-2013 Scholarship Application

 

The seven exceptional and very worthwhile BIA  recipients in 2011 weere:

  • Michael Benatar is a sophomore at The Ohio State University pursuing a degree in Engineering.
  • Stacey Cremeans attends the Ohio University, Lancaster branch part-time majoring in Accounting Technology.  Cremeans is a two time scholarship recipient.
  • Michael Jeffers is a freshman at Kenyon College studying Economics, Finance and Business. 
  • Ricardo Marshall is a freshman at Kent State University  pursuing a degree in Architecture. 
  • Amber McAlpine is a freshman at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a degree in Industrial Design.
  • Dylan Nourse is a freshman at the University of Cincinnati pursuing Engineering as his field of study.
  • Cory Wolfe is in his final year at The Ohio State University majoring in Civil Engineering and is scheduled to graduate in spring of 2012.  Wolfe is a two time scholarship recipient.
