The BIA Certified Professional Builder (CPB) program was established in 1988. CPBs are BIA builder members that have submitted to a more rigorous review of their business practices and relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and homeowners. The BIA's Certified Professional Builder Committee assures that CPBs:

  • Are in good credit standing
  • Have positive professional references on file
  • Have attended educational courses related to Safety, Business & Construction Practices and Legal/Finance on an annual basis 
  • Have no unresolved complaints pending
  • Principal income is derived from the home building industry
