Bridge Street code, rezoning presented to council

Discussion was not lacking as code and rezoning for the Bridge Street corridor went before council.

Giant Eagle ruling delayed until March

At its Feb. 9 meeting, Hilliard’s Planning and Zoning Commission agreed again to postpone a ruling on building a Giant Eagle, GetGo gas station, apartment complex and medical offices at 4300 Cemetery Road.

“I think you’ve come a long way, recognizing there are numerous elements yet to be addressed,” Mayor Don Schonhardt told developer Frank Kass of Continental Real Estate. Schonhardt is a voting member of the commission. Read Full Story.

 

Boso appoints deputy administrator

City administrator Chuck Boso appointed William Vedra Jr. as the city’s full-time deputy city administrator effective Feb. 7.

Mike Wasylik had previously worked part-time, 20 to 30 hours per week for both of those positions. Following a transition period, Wasylik will depart from the city, Boso said.  Read Full Story. 


Three seeking GOP bid for Delaware County commissioner

Three candidates are seeking the Republican nomination to the Delaware County commissioner’s term beginning Jan. 2.

In the March 6 primary, Joe Garrett and Gary Merrell are challenging incumbent Tommy Thompson. The three are Dela-ware city residents. The winner will run against Democratic candidate John Hartman of Powell in November.  Read Full Story.


City considering $2.5B in capital spending through 2017

Columbus City Council will hold a public hearing Thursday on a budget plan that would provide nearly $2.5 billion for capital improvements over the next several years.
